Ina Otte wants a medicine that includes everyone
Professor Dr. Ina Otte is committed to a form of medicine that takes all perspectives into account – enabling fairer and more effective treatments. Since January 2025, she has been contributing her expertise as a sociologist and medical ethicist to healthcare research at Ruhr University Bochum. Her goal: medical research that reflects the reality of patients – not just an average.
Guideline on Respiratory Infections in Blood Cancer Patients Updated
A new European guideline provides well-founded answers to pressing questions regarding the management of respiratory infections in patients with blood cancer. Based on insights from a decade of research, it offers a comprehensive overview of risk assessment, diagnostics, hygiene measures, treatment, and vaccination strategies – published in the renowned journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases.
2nd Bochum Symposium for Diversity Medicine
This November, the second Bochum Symposium on Diversity Medicine took place under the motto “Diversity Medicine: Luxury or Necessity?”. A diverse range of lectures, poster presentations, and stimulating discussions provided for a great exchange of ideas and exciting insights into the field of diversity medicine.
CHANCEN= – Interview with Prof. Marie von Lilienfeld-Toal and Prof. Ina Otte
In the sixth issue of CHANCEN= magazine, the two professors Marie von Lilienfeld-Toal and Ina Otte present insights from the field of diversity medicine. In keeping with the theme of "Equality through the ages", the influence of discrimination on health is highlighted and the individual as a whole is placed at the centre of medical thinking. The magazine also includes an interview with Chancellor Dr Christina Reinhardt and other equality-related topics, such as information on the Women Professors Forum and the Orange Days.

Online lecture series "Wheel of Visibility" starts again!
Starting May 8, 2026, the Institute for Diversity Medicine will resume its online lecture series, “Wheel of Visibility.” Every Friday from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m., the series will explore science, practice, and community within the context of diversity medicine.
