Our research fields
Our institute investigates the interplay of biological, social, and structural factors in health care. Through interdisciplinary projects—ranging from health care research and palliative care to diversity-sensitive oncology—we systematically analyse the points at which medicine intersects with diversity.
Health services research
The Department of Health Services Research investigates how diversity factors influence access to medical care and its quality.
Palliative care
Cultural backgrounds, family structures and individual life realities characterise the last phase of life. Our research examines how diversity-sensitive approaches can be designed in palliative care.
Diversity-sensitive cancer medicine
In this field, we are researching how sex, gender, and other diversity factors influence diagnosis, therapy, and disease progression in oncological diseases. Our aim is to develop context-aware cancer medicine that accounts for both biological and social factors.
