Online lecture series "Diversity Medicine - Wheel of Visibility"

How does diversity affect medical care? In the online lecture series "Diversity Medicine - Wheel of Visibility", researchers, practitioners and interest groups will shed light on how individual and structural characteristics shape diagnosis, therapy and research. Participation is open to all interested parties, including those outside Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

What topics are covered?

The lecture series focuses on diversity characteristics such as religion, trans* health, migration, neurodiversity and other diversity domains and their influence on diagnosis, therapy and care structures. The central questions are:

How can we understand the diversity of individual and group-related characteristics of patients?

Which structural contexts are decisive in research, teaching and clinical practice?

The presentations combine three perspectives: scientific knowledge from research, practical experience from treatment contexts and the views of interest groups and those affected.

Duration and target group

Each session lasts 45 minutes: 30 minutes scientific presentation, 15 minutes discussion for questions and exchange. The events take place online.

The series is aimed at students and researchers in medicine and related disciplines, teachers who want to integrate diversity into their teaching, and practitioners in the healthcare professions. All other interested parties are also welcome - regardless of their affiliation with Ruhr-Universität Bochum. No prior knowledge is required.
